Anything else?
My mother has just been in Ward 5 following bladder surgery. She was in her own room from the Monday and I visited on the Wednesday evening. Whilst visiting the nurse announced that she would have to move rooms due to needing the room for an elderly patient. We were asked to pack her items up, as my mum was still bed bound. As we were doing so a flannel was above the sink, clearly had mould on it, it was not my mothers property. I asked the nurse who's it was, as it was not my mothers, she replied "just bin it" I then asked if it had been used on my mother, (my mum was under the influence of a lot of pain medication at the time so had no recollection of the day) and she replied "I don't know I wasn't in this morning. Mum was then moved down the corridor to a 4 bed room, which was tiny. There was no space to be able to sit on a chair, without inpacting on the bed next to you. Disgracefull. The room was very overheated because it was so compacted, and my mother, whom is also recieveing chemotherapy so has no immunity left soon contracted a serious infection, so the estimated time scale for her hospital stay went from 3-4 days to the current day 10. There was no dignity for my mother in this ward, catheters were emptied into cardboard bowls when visitors were present, My mother had to endure nurses changing her dressing during visiting, because the nurses ' couldnt do it any other time" and any consultations even behind curtains could be heard by all in the room, hence there was no respect for privicy or confidentiality.
The fact that my mum is an ill lady, no immune system, and many health issues, the fact that she has been subjected to this for the past 10 days disgusts me. She has been on a few wards in the past that have been excellent, but this was a sheer disgrace.
"Disgusting"
