I came into the Emergency Department at the beginning of the week, I was referred to the department by my GP. Luckily, I had a referral letter, so I was not waiting too long to be triaged or seen in the ED.
I was then moved to the Direct Assessment Unit, and I stayed there for three days. It was a long three days in the unit and I found those 72 hours to be some of the longest in my life, but the nurses in the unit made time go faster. They were absolutely wonderful and did their very best to lift my spirits.
After three days I was brought up to the surgical ward, the staff here are lovely and are very attentive. Bernie has been especially kind to me, coming over and checking up on me whenever the opportunity presents itself. I am very grateful for the care I have been receiving for my kidney infection.
My only issues have been that I have found the food bland, and I think that while the beds are comfortable, they could be a lot better and more comfortable as for patients who are in pain like myself, a bed can never be too soft.
