"My time on the ward"

About: Cheshire And Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust / Eating disorders

(as a service user),

My time on the ward was the most shocking time I have ever experienced. My experience was that patients are not taken seriously, treated in a disrespectful way and a lot of physical force is applied which I found most distressing. Badly organized and badly managed!

No psychotherapist there for over a year! My stuff got searched on arrival and a lot of it got taken away. Several of my belongings got lost, some of them got thrown away without my consent.

On the other hand several things like the cable of the ECG machine or some packaging material / string were left on the corridor unattended and were used by a patient on the ward trying to hang herself.

When people didn't turn up for meals or didn't eat anything it didn't seem to matter, there were several days when I didn't get any food at all just because of my social anxiety.

When people are too slow their food got taken away from them. Despite so many strict, useless and inconsistent rules I managed to manipulate my weight by more than 3 Kilos without them noticing!

In my opinion, the ward made people more depressed. I'll never go there again!!!
