Anything else?
I was treated with dignity and respect by everyone, from the receptionist to the three medical staff that attended me when I visited for a mental health emergency. The nurses were compassionate, knowledgeable and when they were not sure of something they consulted other members of the team for a second opinion.
I was attended within minutes of being there, which was quite critical in making me feel better and at ease as it's quite difficult for someone in a mental health crisis to be "exposed" and feeling vulnerable in waiting areas.
I have had so many bad experiences in the NHS, from a doctor unable to identify the signs to to diagnose a simple urine infection, to having to wait hours for a fracture at A&E and having a serious and very conspicuous thyroidal disease undiagnosed for years and years... I was feeling very uneasy about visiting the Walk-in Centre, but my experience at Homerton Hospital was re-assuring and I feel much better and at ease knowing that my health is in better, more caring hands.
