"No faith in maternity or A & E"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency Lincoln County Hospital / Gynaecology Lincoln County Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I had been calling the maternity unit  from Monday due to problems during pregnancy and was told to go to a&e.  Twice I came in and was sent home, the first time seeing a gynecologist after the nurse told me in the waiting room that I might as well go home as I wouldn't receive a scan; I didn’t go for that reason. The gynaecologist said they weren't worried at all.  Having been referred the second time to the assessment unit in maternity I was told I would receive a phone call with an appointment either that day or Friday/Saturday.

On Sunday I had contractions so again I was advised to phone 111 from the assessment unit and told to go to a&e. I came to a&e, explained everything again and that I was bleeding heavily and being soaked in blood and having strong contractions.  I waited two hours to see a nurse who actually took bloods but I was offered no pain relief. I finally went to Branston ward where after nearly another two hours I was seen by a gynecologist who said I’d lost the baby.  They also said if I’d had my bloods done on the first visit they would have seen my hormone level decreasing and I could have been monitored.

Following this I received nothing. I was told I will have to wait until my 12 week scan in May, and to attend to see if everything has come away.  I will have the experience of sitting with expectant mums, knowing I have lost my baby, and waiting to see if everything has gone.

Today I received a phone call, following Thursdays referral, wanting to book me in to be assessed and to check if things are going well. I explained that I had lost the baby. They was unaware of this and asked if I had received anything following this - numbers to contact for support.  I received nothing after being told I’d lost the baby, only the impression I was taking space and time up, so I requested to go home. I have no faith in the hospital.  I’m actually scared to even come here anymore.  I feel absolutely devastated that no one listened to me.
