"The service my teenage son received was excellent"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a parent/guardian),

From the 111 telephone call to the assessment and treatment , the service my teenage son received was excellent.

I called on his behalf with a suspected broken toe.

Was triaged and offered assessment at Wishaw General minor injuries department.

Was seen by Physiotherapist Alan who was excellent, talked my son through what he was assessing and why, he was then x-rayed and back to Alan who discussed with him what was broken and showed him his x-ray and discussed recovery plans.

The whole journey took 2 hours and 30 mins from telephone to leaving the hospital with an outcome.

Credit to NHS Lanarkshire for a great service

Hi Libra26,

We too are sorry to hear about your son's broken toe and thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. It is so encouraging to read we were able to assess and treat your son within such a short time frame and he was on his journey home within a couple of hours.

Alan is one of our senior physiotherapy staff who works within the ED and minor injuries and I am delighted to read that Alan assessed, explained and arranged the correct investigations and treatment for your son, sharing his xray and recovery plan.

We will pass on your kind words to Alan and the team and wish your son well with his recovery.

Kind regards
