"Lack of answers"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I was taken to Cramlington hospital due to a overdose. The police had taken me but upon arrival they didn't get a nurse. I wasn't even aware of being in hospital until I had been taken into resus. When I asked where my clothes were and where I was at this time I hadn't been aware of also having a fall and banging my head and I had a injury to my foot. I only know what happened next through getting the hospital CCTV footage and upon viewing that it was shocking what I had to watch.

When I went in to the hospital that day I had my clothes on yet in the resus I asked where my clothes were and where I was, one of the nurses said that I hadn't come in in my clothes but I know that I did.  The nurse said that they had to take them off  because my trousers were wet yet I don't believe that was true.  They then said that they were put in a bag in the room and I would get them back,  I didn't get them back. I was then told that had been moved by the cleaners.  I was dressed in a pair of dirty green things of theirs.

I sustained a fall when the police walked away from me and didn't call for  a nurse.  Upon arrival I had a injury to my foot.  I wasn't offered an X ray on my foot even though they knew about it. I do not feel I was offered the correct care. I was then on a ward and I asked what was happening and I had bruises on my arms and elbows and a nurse said that they were old, but I believe they were from falling in the hospital.

I was in hospital for two days and feel that I was not properly cared for by the police or the hospital.  M clothes went missing. I sustained a fall and a bang to my head and a injury to my foot and I'm still waiting for answers to what happened to me.  I also asked about if I had been unconscious but have still not received an answer.

I feel that the care I had at this hospital was a disgrace and I believe that the staff I encountered were unhelpful and untrustworthy. A discharge letter wasn't even signed and I refuse to go back there again.

Dear Skulls,

I am deeply sorry to read that you had reason to attend The Northumbria hospital recently and that your experience with us fell short of what we would expect for any of our patients. It is important that we look into what happened with the help of the hospital staff who were on duty at the time.

I would therefore be very grateful if you could email us privately at patient.experience@nhct.nhs.uk with the date and time of your arrival into hospital and the number of the ward you were admitted to. Don’t worry if you don’t have this information, you can email us with your name and date of birth, and we will be able to access your records with your consent. With this information we will also be able to enquire about your missing items with the relevant ward.

I will look out for your email.
