In December the result of a biopsy of a mole on my foot proved it to be cancer. From that day the care I have received has been amazing. Once the melanoma had been removed I was discharged into the care of the plastic surgery nurses: Alison, Caroline, Deborah, Jo, and Naomi - what a team. I will miss their cheerful banter, and TLC, on a Tuesday now that their work is done. Thank you.
Now it's back to the cancer care nurses whom I met briefly before the operation. The two I met last year were lovely and I look forward to meeting them again and the rest of the team. I cannot fault any of the treatment I have had - including the receptionists at Queen Margaret who were friendly and helpful. Mustn't forget the photographer either, she had a really difficult job getting a good picture, but she did it!
Having enjoyed ridiculously good health for 74+ years this was my first real encounter with the SNHS, and it had to be during a pandemic. Apart from QMH I attended Perth RI for my pre-op assessment. The nurses, and doctor, there were also brilliant. The staff at Ninewells where I had the operation, were wonderful too.
My thanks must also go to Dr Frazer (Dermatology, QMH) and Mr Waterston (Ninewell, and QMH) who explained their part in the process and answered all my questions so that I never felt unsure of what was going on, or what to expect. There has been constant reassurance from all the nursing staff as well, with contact telephone numbers if I needed them. I have felt fully informed at all stages of this process.
"Fully informed at all stages of this process."
