My daughter was taken to A&E at ROH. She is 6 years old and she developed a rash in the morning. At 9am I rang NHS 111 and after explaining the symptoms, they rang for an ambulance.
I was shocked at the service which was provided in hospital. My daughter was not given any suitable options to have something to eat during her stay. They offered her a sandwich which she wouldn’t be able to eat and wasn’t given any alternatives. She also wasn't given a drink throughout and when I asked about this I was told that they didn't do juice and my only option was to get some water from the water tank down the hall.
Additionally, my daughter was due for pain medication at 5pm and it wasn’t administered until 9pm. Eventually when she was discharged at 1:30am, I had to take her to a petrol station to get her something to eat. This was a horrible situation made worse by having a lack of basic food and drink options for a child.
"Poor service provided for my daughter"
