"Thank you to the team on Ward 7"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Acute Surgical Receiving Unit

When I first went in the jnr doc was not the happiest, however the next morning was completely different. The doctor took a lot of time to listen and understand what was happening. After that he chat about the plan of action.

I was in a bay of six which was OK and the nursing staff was very kind and caring. I went to CT scan then it all went downhill in my health. I was not in the best place and tell the truth I wanted to die.

Then I had Dawn (could be wrong name) who was great and said she was not having any of that chat. Then I got moved to Ward 3 and then everything felt worse.

Thank you to all of the team in Ward 7.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us whilst you were a patient in ward 7 at Ninewells. I am sorry that you had the impression that the junior doctor was not happy on your first night but am pleased that you felt that the situation improved the following day with a doctor taking time to listen to your story, with a plan for moving forward. It is encouraging to hear that the nursing staff were kind and caring especially the nurse who provided support to you when you were feeling really low. This must have been a really difficult time for you. Our expectations are that all staff should strive to provide a high level of patient centred and compassionate care and whilst that was mostly your experience in ward 7 it is disappointing that this was not your initial experience. I am sorry that your positive experience did not continue when you were moved from ward 7. I will share your post with the staff in ward 7 and wish you well
