"Emergency Treatment"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

Was worried about my elderly father slurring so initially tried to call 111, after 20 minutes on hold gave up. He seemed better but then an hour or so later seemed to deteriorate so we called 999, it took a while to get through and were told an ambulance would come but couldn’t say when…. Said would it be better to drive ourselves to A&E … yes was the answer. Arrive and it then takes an hour to be triaged, was told need bloods done would be 10/15 minutes….. 2 and a half hours later we are still sitting in a cold waiting room…. Let’s hope it’s not a stroke.

Dear Angry2953,

Thank you for taking your time to provide us with your feedback about your recent experience within the department.

Unfortunately we are unable to look into the concerns you have raised as care opinion is anonymous. We will be happy to look into your father's treatment further, if you would like to contact our PALS team (Patient Advice & Liaison Service) via email on ndht.PALS@nhs.net.

Kind regards

Sophie Grills
