"Kindness , care and communication"

About: Inverclyde Royal Hospital / General Medicine ( wards G North, G South, J North, J South & L South)

(as a relative),

My dad was being treated in a medical ward at Inverclyde hospital . I was pleased by the care and kindness of the staff under difficult circumstances. I did notice that on phoning the ward to speak to nurses on quite a few occasions I had to ask nurses their names as they would just say staff nurse or sometimes just hello . I would appreciate nursing staff introducing themselves by name to relatives .

Dear Victoria trained patient

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on Care Opinion. I am pleased that your dad was well looked after during his hospital stay.

I appreciate your frustration regarding staff not introducing themselves properly when answering the phone, it is one of my own pet hates and I reiterate this time and again. I will raise awareness of this with my teams once again and strive to make improvements. Most areas now have admin support to answer the phones but I do expect the nursing staff to clearly identify themselves.

Once again, thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Kind regards

Alison
