So my 6yr old boy had to visit NDDH Barnstaple as he fallen at school pretending to be a crab. So we attended A&E and we were welcomed and booked in. We were seen promptly by Sarah in A&E she reviewed my son, making him feel less scared and keeping him upbeat.
He was introduced to Tom who was new, my son had to have an x-ray. So we waited. Patients were coming in thick and fast, staff were busy but still asking those waiting in the waiting area if they were ok, apologising for the wait. But they were faultless. My son was saying hello to everyone as they walked past, it brought smiles to their faces which I thought was lovely. We then were lead to have his arm plastered due to a fracture. A very lovely lady Claire plastered his arm, My son commented on how good a job she was doing. Which she did and thank you for reassuring him.
While we were waiting I took note of what I think were Triage nurses Rob and Nicky. Their manner with people in around a busy waiting area was lovely, how they spoke. Think it goes a long way with people in what can be a scary environment.
We came away feeling looked after and thank you to the Team that helped us.
Thank you to all the Team today in the A&E dept.
