Whilst nursing staff and receptionists are extremely friendly, the consultant dealing with my son's broken wrist lacked all basic politeness and courtesy. Having been assured that we would see a hand specialist, we were disappointed that we were on the list for such a consultant but never had the pleasure of seeing him. Instead, we saw a consultant specialising in knee replacement, shoulder and elbow. From my own professional experience as a lawyer, I am surprised that patients are expected to accept this. The consultant did not appreciate at all the importance of a well healed fractured wrist for a young and talented musician. He was impatient and rude when being asked clarifying questions and was clearly not prepared to actually engage with us. He appeared to been keen to move the patient on. Pointing out his years of experience when I raised my concern about the conflicting advice received by another consultant when my son's wrist was first treated, he even mentioned that one could "see him privately at Park Hill Hospital". Once again, the friendly and helpful nurses and support staff are being let down by an arrogant and unpleasant consultant. Clearly, he had totally forgotten that whilst the NHS is free at delivery, it is not a free service and tax payers pay his salary.
"Terrible Consultant"
