"Breaking free from an emotionally abusive relationship"

About: Ealing IAPT

(as a service user),

After having personal relationship problems where I was  at my wits end, feeling stuck in an emotional abusive relationship, I contacted Ealing IAPT Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) where I received counselling from Shole. Through this process I learned a lot about my behaviour patterns and how I responded in social situations which were linked to past experiences and responses as a child. I cannot rate Shole highly enough in the care and support taken during this process and also the support given to continue on my own once the sessions had ended. It’s been 3 years since my last session and I am in a very different relationship thanks to this therapy. I still think about the areas we worked on together and what I learnt and remind myself to continue practicing them.

Dear whitelotus,

It is great that even after 3 years from your last session you have been able to maintain changes in your thinking and behaviours that make you happier. DIT can be a very challenging therapy to undertake and it is seems you continue to fully embrace this.

Wishing you all the best for the next 3 years and more

Ealing IAPT
