In alignment with the disappointing Forth Valley NHS experience I have had to date (see my previous posts which have not been answered to in any reasonable/acceptable way), I was instructed by NHS 24 to take my child to A&E at Forth Valley Hospital last night. I was advised a file would be made available and my child would be seen as there was a concern about whether the symptoms could indicate meningitis.
After hours of waiting in a horrible, dirty waiting room, with a child who was visibly unwell and unable to even sit, I had to take the decision to take my child back home. I was disgusted to see that other cases which appeared to be much less serious were being prioritised over a visibly unwell child. I also had not chosen to attend A&E, but rather I have been instructed by NHS24, however this made no difference.
The care by NHS Forth Valley is considerably sub standard most of the time. However when it comes to children, I find the the health service in this region to be disgusting and completely unacceptable. I would be interested in receiving a publicly-visible reply to this post to explain NHS FV's rationale in relation to children's care. I am sure many other website users would also be interested to hear why other people who appear to have much less serious health issues are prioritised over a sick child.
"Disgusting A&E service."
