Two years ago around the beginning of the first lockdown, I noticed my actions/behaviourism stated to manifest signs of OCD. I would constantly be checking doors, lights, taps etc. I didn't think much about it in the beginning because I told myself I was just being careful/responsible.
It was only around 6 months ago that I realised things were getting worst. Although I didn't see it at the time even being able to sit and relax started to become difficult. Me being stubborn I still told myself that things will get better when we are out of lockdown and my responsibilities can start to change. I was wrong, it was only until I had somewhat of an emotional realisation that I needed help. Thus, with the help of family and friends, they told me to send put a self-application to Ealing IAPT. I was very surprised at how quick it was for me to be paired with a CBT therapist. My magnificent therapist was Sita. Sita is absolutely fantastic, by the end of the 10th week I was able to go about day to day life without worrying or feeling anxious. I was so surprised to see how quick CBT works especially since I had done all my sessions online over Microsoft Teams. Ultimately Sita has managed to help me regain control of my thoughts and behaviour in no time. On top of all that, speaking to someone who isn't a family member or friend helps so much with mental health. It's great just to be able to get things off your chest and not feel judged.
I'm glad to say I'm a lot better and happier now.
A big thank you to Ealing IAPT and especially the Sita for everything. It has been an amazing experience. Thank you!
