I wish I had the advocate from the beginning of my stay in the psychiatric ward. 

It is very difficult to understand the laws and bureaucracy involved in psychiatric treatment and medication. The advocate helped me to understand the 'red tape' involved. It is wonderful to understand that there is someone 'on your side' and will speak for you if necessary. Also to understand the legal side of being sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
