"Poor care and long wait for pain relief"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

My husband was transferred from A and E onto  AAU Gate12  at Pinderfields Hospital. He was waiting for a stent putting in next day. He said the care was terrible. He felt that the nursing staff were not interested in caring for people. Sat laughing and chatting all night. Ignoring the phone ringing. The doctor prescribed him some pain relief at 1am but he didn’t receive this until 5am even though he had repeatably asked for it. The nurses said they hadn’t seen his script. All in all a bad experience for him.

Dear digby1

Thank you for your feedback and I am really sorry to read of your husband's experience. What you have described is not something we would want any of our patient's to experience and for that I am sincerely sorry.

It is important for us to look further into your husband's experience and I wondered if you would be happy to contact our PALS team who will look into your concerns in more detail. If that is something you would be happy to do, their contact details are myh-tr.palsmidyorks@nhs.net

Thank you again for your feedback and I wish your husband a speedy recovery.

Kind regards

Clare Blackburn
