I don't understand why I still cannot get an appointment to get an IUD insertion. It's been 18 months since I first tried to get an appointment and I am at my wit's end. No appointment's are ever available. They don't offer alternatives - alternative services elsewhere, ability to book in advance. What am I meant to do? Covid has been going on since 2019, when will they stop using it as an excuse for poor services.

Dear induszw39

We are very sorry to hear of the problems you have been experiencing trying to book an appointment for an IUD at Sandyford sexual health service. Due to the ongoing restrictions from the COVID 19 pandemic it does mean that we are still limited in the services we can offer.

At the moment appointments are released weekly at Sandyford Central, Sandyford Parkhead and Sandyford Paisley. These are accessible via our online booking which you can access via www.sandyford.scot The number of appointments available each week can vary at the moment due to ongoing staffing challenges and we are doing everything we can to address this ensuring additional lists are made available when staffing permits.

Once the service is able to revert to operating under more normal conditions, capacity for IUD appointments will increase and the service will be able to open in more locations.
