"The attention I got"

About: Arbroath Infirmary / Minor Injuries

(as a service user),

I cut my heel badly on a doorstep.

Two lovely nurses attended to me, glued it and put paper stitches on.

I didn’t have to wait at all and they couldn’t have been any nicer to me. Fab job ladies and thank you.

Dear Mys123

First of all I apologise for the late reply, Christmas and New year has been a very busy time for us. Thank you so much for leaving a story on care opinion, we really appreciate the time you've taken to do this and the lovely comments you have made.

I'm sorry to hear you had a nasty wound to your heel that required treatment in the Minor Injuries and Illness Unit (MIIU) in Arbroath. Its great to know that you were attended to promptly. The way we access Urgent care has changed recently and patients are now asked to phone 111 prior to attending MIIU. This is to ensure that you are seen in the right place, by the right person at the right time. This also helps with overcrowding in waiting areas and allows patients to be seen to promptly. Any emergencies should continue to call 999 or to attend Accident and Emergency in Ninewells directly.

I will let the staff know that you were happy with the care you received and I'm reassured that the nursing staff were lovely. We do try to ensure that all patients are treated professionally and with compassion. The nursing staff in the MIIU have undertaken extensive training and are able to deal with a wide variety of minor injuries and Illness. This allows for patients to be treated locally.

I hope the wound has now healed and you're managing to move about without any discomfort. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long until spring arrives and lighter, sunnier days are with us.

Take care

Anne Black
