My son (age 25) had an appointment at our local hospital clinic. When we arrived at the reception desk there were two members of staff at the reception area who were deep in a personal conversation while seemly working at their own desks about 6 feet apart so everyone could hear the conversation.
We were totally ignored for several minutes while they continued their conversation, my son & I looking at each other and wondering whether or not the staff could see us standing in front of them!
I've not seen ignorance like that in a long time, all that was needed to be said was "I'll be with you in a second" - at least that way we would have known the staff saw us.
When we eventually gave our details we sat down & saw the very same treatment given to other patients.
Some people are nervous enough attending hospital without being made to feel uncomfortable by some reception staff. Meeting & greeting needs to be looked at in certain areas.
