I had to have a wry smile at the nomenclature of the Departure Lounge as it put me in mind of jetting off to a Caribbean island sometime soon!

I was met by the friendly nurse trainee Christina at the Ward 309, who accompanied me to the Departure Lounge near the Ambulance Bay.

She offered me a most welcome cup of tea and biscuits and waited for my daughter to pick me up in her car.

Nurse Nicole at the desk was kind and reassuring as she checked I had my pain relief medication and went through the instructions.

Nurse Nicole was friendly and we even chatted about her being a local of Speyside just like my self.

She helped put my bag in the car as I had surgery the day before which was thoughtful of her.

All I can say is that all the care I have had so far at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary has been excellent throughout.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback after your recent stay in 309. You brought a smile to my face with your comment surrounding the discharge lounge. Whilst I have never thought of it in this light, it does give some hope of returning to pre COVID times and the joys holidays can bring. I'm glad it brightened your day thinking of this!

I will ensure the team, in particular Christina and Nicole, receive your lovely feedback. All our staff strive for the highest standard of patient centered care at all times and I am delighted you found the team to be friendly and welcoming, supporting you throughout your stay.
