"I had a very rare infection that was not picked up"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

The doctor would not take any notice of a care plan which was sent to them. I had Sepsis. In the end I had to sign myself out not getting any treatment. Shortly afterwards I was admitted to another hospital.

The doctor offered no treatment, I hope to never come to this hospital again. Staff need more training, I had a very rare infection that was not picked up. I believe I might have died if I had stayed.

Dear Jwill21

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience.

I am sorry to read that this experience has been quite negative for you and I cannot begin to imagine what a worrying time this must have been. It is hugely disappointing that you felt you had no other option than to sign yourself out of the department.

I will be sharing your feedback with the team but I feel it is important that we look further into your experience. If you could contact our PALS team (myh-tr.palsmidyorks@nhs.net) they will be happy to investigate your experience further.

Thank you again and I hope you are recovering well.

Kind regards

Clare Blackburn
