I gave birth to my son here two weeks ago and just really wanted to highlight where I received amazing care and give those staff the credit where it is so rightly due. My son was born in October and all the staff on the labour suite were absolutely outstanding. My midwife to begin with was Natalie and as her shift ended she swapped with Aimee. Both were young but just amazing in the support and care they gave me, and how they put me to ease.
Thank you both for being so kind and helpful. All the staff on the labour suite that day were really great. My consultant was Dr Roberts in the last trimester as I had some complications throughout my pregnancy and I just wanted to say how great she was also. She really listened and took the time at each appointment to make me feel supported and at ease, thank you so much for everything.
In contrast the ward after labour really was below par, I wasn’t shown a thing, or helped to breastfeed and when I asked for help with nappy changing as I couldn’t stand well on my feet after stitches, a catheter, and heavy bleeding I was told to I needed to learn to do it myself, and not to buzz the buzzer as it wakes the whole ward. This is just one of the uncaring comments but the purpose of my review is to highlight where the staff were great and to give them the credit they deserve.
There was also an extremely rude auxiliary who shouted at my partner for getting me a cup of tea, and also made some nasty remarks to me and slammed the door. I found their attitude to be disgusting. Not all of the staff on the aftercare ward were like this I just stress some were kind and caring but it only takes a small few to really dampen your experience.
However like I say credit to the full labour suite staffing and also my consultant for giving me the best care I had received my whole nine months of attending the hospital.
