"Smoking outside the hospital"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Direct Assessment Unit

(as a service user),

I recently attended the Direct Assessment Unit and was appalled to see the amount of hospital staff in uniforms sitting on chairs outside the entrance smoking. I thought the hospital was a smoke free zone? It is totally unprofessional and a blatant disregard to hospital policy. How is this allowed to happen?

Dear Marny64,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent experience and I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for this. The hospital is indeed a smoke free zone for both patients and staff and we encourage our staff to comply with the non smoking policy and actively challenge those who break Trust policy

Many Thanks
