I have been trying to get treatment for the most distressing menopause symptoms, that I have been suffering with for over 2 years. I have spoken to 3 GP's.  One told me to take paracetamol. The next GP told me to take anti-depressants for 18 months and I said that I can then get my life sorted out!! The third GP did not diagnose menopause, referred me to physio with back and shoulder pain. I had blood tests in August and put on the forms 'back and shoulder pain, no libido'.  The tests confirmed I am menopausal.  The third GP said to me that they would have thought I would have realised I was in the menopause!!! They also said that if I was not happy with the service, there are plenty of other surgeries around. When I mentioned about Davina McCall's programme, they said that programme should never have been made let alone broadcast. I felt patronised and humiliated by the three of them.  I took my concerns to the Manager, who has passed on my comments at a team meeting. No apology forthcoming, and in my view they don't care.  I am now looking to go private which will cost me quite a lot but at least I will hopefully be looked after and respected, because I have lost all respect and trust in them.  A terrible experience I am going through and still suffering after all this time.  I felt I had not been cared for properly and basically dismissed by them.  I feel let down and failed and humiliated.  It was a horrible time and I was not treated with care and compassion or respect in my view.
