Anything else?
I was sent to the A&E by my GP. The A&E determined I need an urgent MRI and told me that I should hear from someone within 2 weeks and sent me home. After two and a half weeks went by, I hadn't heard anything, so I called the A&E back. After trying for 5 times to get through to the A&E and failing, I called my GP who said they would look into it. The GP called me back and said that the A&E sent a fax to the MRI place, and told me to call the A&E. I called the A&E back and finally got through, and when they said that the fax was sent to Kings College Hospital, I said "Where is that?" and they actually said "What do you mean where is Kings College?" Finally I got it out of her. I called Kings and they said they never got such a fax and I wasn't in their system. They told me to call the A&E back and ask them to send the fax again (thanks for the help). I called the A&E back and they told me that their fax machine says that it was sent. I said "Kings didn't get it." and the reply was "It was sent to reception desk." So again I said "They didn't get it." ... This went back and forth like this so I hung up and called back to get someone else. Finally I spoke to someone whose first language was English and they said that they would send the fax again. Another week has gone by and I still haven't heard anything. I hope I don't have anything serious. As an American who leans Democrat, I now know what the Republicans are talking about when they demonize national health care systems. When I had itchy skin I made an appointment online, saw a doctor without waiting at the actual appointment time, and got medicine at Boots all within an hour that cured me (no other medicine had worked for 4 years) and all on the same street no less. I was amazed. But apparently if stuff gets more complicated than that, look out.
"FAX machines? Really?"
