"First class service at Moorfields Eye Hospital"

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road Campus) / Ophthalmology

(as a service user),

I arrived as requested 15 minutes earlier than my 10:00am appointment and joined the back of the queue that was shuffling up the ramp.  For some reason some people marched straight up the ramp and past the queue and they were turned back by the man at the top, except for those in wheelchairs who appear to have priority.

When it was my turn I was told Clinic 11 was on the lower ground floor and was allowed in.  Just inside the entrance a lady insisted I wash my hands with sanitiser and wear a new mask, both products were provided.  I couldn't find the stairs so used a lift to go down one floor into Clinic 11 and reported to reception without a queue - there were about 6 other patients waiting that I could see

Within a few minutes I was called for a sight and pressure test and given eye drops.  5 minutes later I was called for examination and the doctor realised he had called me too early so I was sent back to wait.  After I was recalled my eyes were thoroughly and efficiently examined with the doctor telling me at all times what he was doing and why.

I was told the results, thankfully nothing that serious and given advice on what action to take should further symptoms manifest.

I was in and out in 40 minutes.  I am most pleased with how I was treated.  From my experience today I would say Moorfields functions as a well-oiled machine that gives 1st class service.
