I am waiting for surgery at the moment, and have now also got an autoimmune disorder, which is leaving me totally exhausted. Being 52 years old, I was given my letter for my first vaccination letter for the Covid-19 roughly about February/march time.
I was/am not fit to attend the Ravenscraig (not-so-super) centre, with it being miles away from me, and where I live, I have no transport links close to me, and could not afford £20 approx return fare in a taxi (which I should not be forced to pay to receive my Covid-19 vaccinations). I don't drive, and have no-one who can take me to Ravenscraig.
When I explained this, to a very rude person in a call centre, they abruptly told me that seen as I am not well enough to travel to a super-centre, they would Remove me from the vaccination program. I thought that meant that I would get an appointment somewhere closer to me - but it didn't. I was Actually removed from the program altogether!
I have since tried calling the phone number helpline, to explain all this, but the people who have answered these calls, have shown very poor ability to communicate, and they can't understand me - or the other way around. As a result they just HANG UP on me for no reason! (The other person has cleared) !
This has left me without any Covid-19 vaccinations, and because a vaccination passport is now required for certain venues - I will not be able to attend a family function, at the end of November - although I DO understand that is due to the Scottish Government - not the NHS.
However, I AM laying the blame at the door of these people who my answer calls on the Covid-19 helpline for not helping me to sort this problem out, then hanging up on me when I try to explain my situation, and arrange to have the vaccinations at a closer location. Disgraceful service!
