I was referred to 111 by my optician as he suspected a potential detached retina but was unable to carry out an examination. 111 referred me to Nddh a&e for an urgent eye exam. It took over an hour between reception and an initial (what I found to be unnecessary) nurse triage. The triage nurse said id need to see a doctor who would then be able to refer me to ophthalmology. A hour later I am with the doctor who is trying to get me referred to ophthalmology but they have now gone home and will need to call someone out.
I found this process ridiculous and a wastes everyone's time. It was established that I needed a eye exam over 5 hours ago but I have now feel I have been made victim of a drawn out triage process in a&e.
