"1 East Gynaecology staff"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 1 East Gynaecology Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department Craigavon Area Hospital / Radiography services Northern Ireland Ambulance Service

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

The staff in 1 east gynaecology have been 100%, from the cleaning staff to the consultants they have all been great. They have communicated, updated me frequently and looked after me well. The ward is kept very clean, they are in cleaning it at least twice a day and change the bins frequently, this makes me feel safe regarding covid and the risk of infection. The bed sheets can be very rough and the pillows and mattress are done, the staff did get me another pillow when i asked however I had to bring my own pillow in as I was quite uncomfortable. Furthermore, I am in a bay of 4 and we have no television or entertainment, it would be nice to have something to make the days go by quicker. However the nurses and healthcare assistants are great at getting you up in the morning and making you feel ready for the day.

I came into hospital via ambulance and the paramedics were excellent, they couldn’t do enough for you and they didn’t make you feel like you were inconveniencing them. Moreover, they had a bit of craic with me so it made me feel less worried. They drove to the hospital at a nice and steady pace so it was a comfortable journey.
The emergency department was crazy, I was put into a cubicle and the bed was like a rock. The staff there always done their best and they have to go through some amount of stuff with the amount of people coming in.
The staff at the CT scanner are very nice. They explained everything clearly and how long you’d be in the scanner for, as it can appear quite daunting. The porters are also great, they have a bit of craic with me.
The food menu has greatly improved since my last visit here, there is a greater variety. The breakfast and lunch are great here.
The discharge process is very long, you could wait 3-4 hours to get home.
All in all I have never had a bad experience in CAH, they always try to help you in every way possible.

Dear Rhiyj26

Thank you for sharing your very kind feedback about your recent experience with our service.

Our staff work under very stressful and often traumatic circumstances. They tend to know when to utilise craic and banter to help distract service users from the pain they are experiencing and to also diffuse difficult situations.

The staff who attended to you during your recent crisis would love to hear your compliments about the care and clinical expertise they provided to you. It is heart warming and boosts morale to hear compliments such as yours. I would love to share your comments with the staff involved however, would need a few extra details of the incident. If you would be prepared to discuss, please contact me on amanda.sweetlove@nias.hscni.net

I hope you are feeling much better and enjoying a speedy recovery.

Kind regards

Amanda

Thank you for your feedback story regarding your visit to the Emergency Department.

We are always glad to hear that our patients have a positive experience even though the department is 'crazy.' Apologies for the 'rock' hard trolley, they definitely weren't designed with comfort in mind.

Our ED staff will be very glad to hear you have never had a bad experience in CAH.

Wishing you a speedy recovery,

Lisa
