"Medical fiasco, failure to keep high risk paitents safe."

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Combined Assessment Unit (CAU)

(as a carer),

My partner is going through chemotherapy and had a temp so went to the combined assessment unit Crosshouse Hospital, to be checked over, found she had no white blood cells and was at high risk and had to stay in.

This was fine until the 4th night she was told your moving into the hospital (this happened around midnight) to the infectious disease ward! ! First of all this decision should not have been made by a Bed manager, second of all, all the medical professionals on the teams on her hand over did not intervene or even ask the question why is this happening, she was subsequently moved to this ward!

I received a call from my partner in severe distress due to this fact and I called the ward. Staff nurse answered and I asked why this has happened it was explained to me the bed manager has done this and they have no say (How wrong is this! ) To then be told my partner was not in infectious disease ward, meanwhile the nurse is in the room with my partner telling her that even though she is there she is not dealing with anyone infectious! ? ! May I add she was in a side room but this still being in the infectious disease ward!

It wasn't until the early shift doctor come in and said oh my goodness why have you been put in this ward, I am organising a transfer for you to another ward you should not be here! This doctor then done their best to get my partner discharged rather than moved which he did do successfully and also chasing up cardio as they have still not seen her in light of her heart conditions found during this rather harrowing and terrifying ordeal since finding out about her cancer.

Answers are needed, and protocols or procedures changed for this to never happen again regardless of any pandemics, poor management happened here by at least 3 teams 2 of which are medical professionals! People need to stop obeying orders if these are wrong, In this case death was the worst potential outcome for my partner and nothing but disrespect through these actions! !
