"Poor communication"

About: Phoenix Walk in Centre Russells Hall Hospital / Urology

(as a service user),

Truth is one never goes to a surgery unless their poorly. I seem to be struck down with uti’s often, and know when it’s not just a bad water infection. Telling the gp is another matter, yes their qualified but we know our own bodies, not being able to get a phone call back may have been forgotten, who knows. Was told drink plenty. , for 72 hours. Well I had been for three days.

In the end went to the the Phoenix Walk in Centre in Wolverhampton. Gave me meds and a bottle give to the gp send off to your local hospital. Took same bottle receptionist “that’s not the right coloured top” may I transfer in your toilet. no. Shall I go home. No do it here in the vestibule which I did, turns out wasn’t even a uti but something more. Tablets over chemist, need send another sample. Turns out that’s only testing by nurse,   after a fone call of an hour they cut me off. One can ring for results 4pm till 6 pm didn’t ring at four busy.

The whole surgery needs a shake up they have had two very hard working fill in for the gp people and by god they have been a credit worked to the death and covered this place. But you can get thru on phone, e Mail is chocker, system so out of touch it’s untrue. Not polite people they look at you as though Christ you Ill again, phone lines dire. you hear the same bloomin boring message fifty times or more. It is bad it needs a new load of staff who want to be there and do their job pleasantly and politely and with efficiency. As for me well another day gone and still don’t know results so I have hospital appointment this afternoon which if I don’t go I’m told costs £160. so what does one do.   Please chat to someone about this surgery I’m not alone in my complaints.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We are very concerned by your comments, and this is not the kind of experience we would want anyone to have as a patient in our care. We always strive to provide the highest standard of care and we are very sorry if, on this occasion, our standards fell short of those we aim to provide.

We strongly urge you to contact your GP to discuss your concerns further. Please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) team by telephone on 0800 073 0510 or email dgft.pals@nhs.net who can assist you with your hospital appointment at Russells Hall Hospital.

Best Wishes

Patient Experience Team
