I suffer with anxiety and periods of depression since as long as I can remember. I first sought help at 17 years old and due to my age (nearly an adult) I was accidentally referred to the wrong service and passed between therapy providers quite a bit.
My GP had put me on antidepressants which had unfavourable side effects (nausea, weight-gain, headaches & libido difficulties) and I honestly felt more abandoned and hopeless than before seeking help in the first place.
After trying various therapies (group therapy & CBT) as well as various medications, Ealing IAPT suggested that I try CfD therapy.
In this process I have learned so much about myself, making connections between my thoughts, actions and feelings has been a powerful tool in making positive changes in my patterns and beliefs.
I’m not ‘cured’ but I have come a long way. Coming from a dark place, I now have a better perspective and I’m more able to deeply understand and support myself. I’m working on being able to reflect effectively without being critical.
Extremely grateful for the opportunity to undergo the CfD process and with a highly skilled and patient therapist (Ms. Masawi).
