"A good experience I hope to never repeat"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Endoscopy

(as a service user),

It went very well. Of course, the endoscopy left me feeling horrible, but well, it was an endoscopy.

The experience was mostly alright - only problem was that we had to wait between the covid test and actually going into the hospital. There wasn't enough time to go home in between, we'd have five minutes before we have had to turn straight back around.

All in all, it did go well, it was a good experience I would recommend to other people - but one I hope I never have to go through again!

Thank you so much for your feedback. I am sorry to hear the endoscopy left you feeling horrid - I understand it's never going to be an enjoyable experience, and hope you made a speedy recovery! We do try to make sure patients are put at ease through their journey in the endoscopy unit, and have as pleasant an experience as possible.

As for the covid swabbing, thank you for highlighting the time delay - this type of swabbing is very new to our unit, and is aimed to help patients avoid having to isolate for days. We leave an hour between swab and appointment to ensure delays are not caused to the running of the unit, but we could definitely review this and decrease this time a little - especially now as we have established that the process is working smoothly.

Totally understand you do not want to come back to see us any time soon. Anything else we can help with/ improve, do not hesitate to let us know. Take care.
