"Lack of compassion"

About: Northern General Hospital / Palliative medicine

(as a relative),

My father was on end of life care, every time I visited him I was met with confusion and a lack of compassion from staff, appearing to be unknowledgeable in team coordination and how to speak to someone with dementia.

I was very saddened to read your post and of the poor experience your father, you and family members have endured.

We would like to take learning from your poor experience so that we can make improvements. Would it be possible for you to provide more details so that we can look into matters and respond to you formally,? If so please could you contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Services by phoning telephone number 0114 271 2400 and leave a message for one of our staff to get back to you or by emailing pals@sth.nhs.net

We certainly do not wish anyone to feel that there has been a lack of compassion and we need to make changes to address this.
