My daughter had heavy internal bleeding so was rushed to the William Harvey A&E.
From the very start her treatment has been appalling and she is only in her 40s. After the first 4 hours when seen by a night doctor, a blood test was taken. I noticed that her name had not been put on the blood file when it went for the tests. Sure enough they said it got lost. She had to have them again.
She had to have antibiotics, once in the ward, but the staff kept forgetting to give them to her. When I went to ask why, I was told they had got the wrong ones again.
Three hours later when they did get the right ones, they forgot to give them to her. When I returned to the ward I myself complained and the nurse said she would do it right away, but she promptly forgot again. This has happened for the last four days, and if not for myself asking for it to be done it never would have.
Now this is the best part: all drips are tied to the curtain rails or the overhead reading light - so if the curtains dividing the beds are slid back, it pulls out or rips at the needles inserted in her arms.
Her stool samples in the bed pan for testing the blood loss are left on the window sill for up to three hours, as they have been today (she has just telephoned me and told me so).
They have continually forgotten to give her the CT scans she needs. Doctors keep asking why it has not been done and losing their temper, I could go on for ever.
I myself have always shouted from the roof tops in the past how good the William Harvey was, but now pray the rest of my family do not have to go in there.
