I gave birth to my 4th baby at the end of March in DHH. My waters had been broke 24hrs before I was admitted and it took a further 13hrs before she arrived. That whole time in delivery suite my husband was allowed to stay with me and even time after the delivery as I was unwell. The staff there on the day, what can I say. Rachel was the first lady I dealt with and despite it being 6am she was happy and upbeat and had gained my confidence within minutes. In the delivery suite my two main supporting ladies were Joanne and Arlene although it was Joanne who I saw the most. We are currently still in a pandemic but you would never have guessed it during my time there. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble and extra support was given without even having to ask because they were so in tune with my situation and personal needs. In the end my daughter needed assistance to be brought into the world and Dr Sharma was the man of the hour. A very quiet man but a true gent whom I would recommend to any lady needing extra help at delivery.
Up on the ward the staff were just as lovely and I would especially like to thank Briege who looked after me the 2 days I spent on the ward. That poor woman was constantly being pulled from pillar to post but she always made time to help with any issues I had and never let the stresses of her job affect her or how she delivered her quality of care. Personal thanks to Jacqui too who sat with me to help me with the breastfeeding struggle I had at the start and restored the confidence I needed to keep going with it. And another extra note of thanks to Joanne for coming up the next morning to see by daughter again. That simple act alone makes you feel like you are more than a number passing through their doors.
Overall a massive thanks to all the staff we dealt with during our time there but extra special thanks for those mentioned above. In normal times the work they do is amazing but to maintain that high level of care and compassion during a pandemic is just astounding. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Best wishes
Proud parents of our baby daughter
