My GP from Northam Surgery referred me for an early pregnancy scan at North Devon District Hospital in the Petter Day Unit, as I was concerned that something was wrong, especially with having a history of miscarriage.
From the moment I walked in to the Petter Day Unit until I left, the level of service and care from the staff was outstanding! I was extremely anxious and they managed to see me within the hour of being referred. The nurse and the sonographer (I’m sorry I can’t remember their names) were amazing. They made me feel at ease from the moment I walked in the room, even though I was very emotional.
I was on my own as we weren’t too sure what the rules were with COVID and partners being allowed in, and they were so empathetic and professional with me and towards my situation.
Everything with the scan was fine and no amount of questions were too much, considering I can imagine the pressure and how busy they must be at the moment. They have also continued the care and support throughout my first trimester. I felt that they went above and beyond to make me comfortable and offer excellent care.
From the GP, to the reception staff at the Ladywell Unit, to the staff at the Petter Day Unit (especially the nurse and the sonographer) the care I received was outstanding.
Thank you,
"Early pregnancy scan"
