I self presented with back problems and unable to weight bear. I was dealt with promptly with care professionalism and a friendly face from the triage to porters to nurses, health cares and doctors. Pain relief offered and promptly provided.
I was transferred to St James ward 27 where most of the nursing staff were amazing, plan was made by physiotherapist nurse looking after me and dr on duty at the time, night staff came on and kept asking me if I could be discharged that night at 8pm. I replied not really as I had no transport until the morning as this had been arranged. I am Aspergers and struggle with change of plan in pain and tired from all the strong opiates I had been provided with through the day.
The nurse brought a bag of take home medicines and discharge notes and said right your going home. I was astonished at the short attitude of the nurse telling me this, and told them I couldn’t get home it would have cost 50 pound in a taxi to get home. The nurse replied well and shrugged saying, you're an able bodied adult, I cried and said I’m going packed my things up only had the patient Pyjamas on and pumps, said nurse returned with colleague and questioned what my problem was, I said the communication was off, the attitude was off, making it sound like I had been abusive. Hardened harsh nurses with no compassion.
When other patient questioned where I was going and what was going on I told the patient, and the said nurse tried to shame me by saying I was making the staff look bad. Never going to st James again 🙁🙁🙁🙁
"Astonished at the short attitude"
