"Doctor at Westcliffe Medical"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary / Ear, Nose and Throat Bradford Royal Infirmary / General surgery Westcliffe Medical Centre

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with mouth cancer in march 2000. i was operated within the week at BRI. I can recall the first 3 days of going in and the last 2 prior to coming out, i requested the discharge i believe three weeks later. I was in intensive care then the high dependency unit. I have lost the use of my left hand where i have a scar from elbow to hand, i have a scar from practically ear to ear, the right side of my face is swollen to the size of a tennis ball where my lymph mode was cut out, i have constant pain in this area. Most of my teeth where knocked out during the operation. The graft on my left arm never did take and was infected for 5 months with puss spewing, out my mouth was the same. I had home visits from the staff to redress my arm, they told me they found it difficult and revolting and eventually kind of declined to come

In 6months i have seen the same surgeon 2 times, St Lukes  Bradford. On the last occasion i mentioned my concerns. They simply told me to move on and put it down has a bad day. I mentioned that my understanding was that there would be some restorative treatment to my teeth?. I mentioned the non use of my arm and the swelling on my chin, adding that I know there are consequences. The surgeon simply said that I did sign the forms, disclaimers..etc etc.

Skipping a lot of issues and moving on.. The inside of my mouth swelled up to the size of a tennis ball, people stopped asking me for change and cigarettes, instead-are you ok my friend?

I was adamant on the telephone to Westcliffe Medical Centre Shipley to see a doctor, and not a locum doctor. I was given penicillin.

A week later i went to A@E This doctor proscribed me Nystatin, "fungal infection". I spent 2 hours on the phone backwards and forwards with BRI and Westcliffe trying to establish where the medication was. Eventually i just said can i buy it over the counter.

I next seen a doctor at Westcliffe Medical about the same concern. I have never encountered them before in my 20+ years at this practice. I was obviously nervous and on meeting i tried to make a joke about the colour of the dr's nails.  I was joking but it certainly set the tone for the proceedings.

There was a trainee in the room and he was very pleasant.

The Dr was massaging my face but never looked inside my mouth, i spoke, and suggested the trainee looked inside my mouth but the Dr explained that they were the doctor and he was the trainee.  They then went on to describe their 10 years experience.  I was beyond frustrated and disappointed and made a critical comment on leaving.

Fast forward a couple of months..I have experienced various problems in relation to referrals and prescriptions from outside bodies, musculo skeletal, airdale hospital, eye nose and ear  prostrate cancer people etc etc. I had to phone the prostate people up my self to find out the results. Anyway when i eventually phoned Westcliffe Medical Centre up i was told by a receptionist i had been struck off for being aggressive?.

I think it is highly unprofessional  and discourteous of them to not have  informed me of the situation and also their fellow professionals. I am on 50+ tablets a day which are close to running out now.

This week I saw a dentist who said they are not a consultant so could not really comment, but heavily suggested it was cancer.

Two doctors from the same practice? I am disappointed that they did not spot it.
