What I liked
I attended St Mary's for a diagnostic laparoscopy. This resulted in a cyst being removed from my left ovary and a few biopsies taken. Upon arrival I was taken to a waiting room and I was seen pretty much straight away. The nurse was extremely friendly as was everyone else we met that day. I was very apprehensive and a lovely young nurse chatted away to me before the surgery to take my mind off it. They were very under staffed that day but just got on with what needed to be done.
In the recovery room the nurses were very attentive when I came round from the anaesthetic and made sure I had enough pain relief and answered any questions I had.
On the ward the nurses were amazing, especially the student nurses, the bedside manner was faultless and it was refreshing to see people taking pride in their work.
I have had a bad experience of hospital treatment in the past down in London and I would choose to go to St Mary's over any other hospital I have been in.
What could be improved
The doctor neglected to tell me to expect bleeding and substantial swelling post - op, but the nurse on duty gave me the ward phone number for any queries and thankfully they were able to explain what was happening.
"The NHS should be proud of St Mary's"
