"They have played a crucial part in my recovery"

About: Community mental health services / Recovery College

(as a service user),

I attended many courses at the Recovery College, in various locations near me, after I was discharged from a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I was extremely anxious at first, but I felt comforted knowing that I would have the support of the Recovery College for the next year rather than suddenly having no therapy whatsoever.

I have now finished my time at the college and they have played a crucial part in my recovery from anxiety and depression. It was not only great to meet people going through similar and relatable problems, but I learnt key strategies to use alongside my CBT skills to improve my health and cope with the ups and downs of life.
Not only was the content great, but the trainers were excellent. Having a peer trainer as well as a psychologist allowed for things to be explained in a way that I understand and could relate to.
There were very few courses that I felt weren't for me, and I found it helpful having no pressure to stick to it. This helped me to really try and give it a couple of sessions before deciding not to continue them.
Thank you Recovery College, you have taught me indispensable tools to keep myself healthy and safe.

Dear Service User,

My name is Winson, and I am a member of the Patient Experience Team for the South West London & St. George's Mental Health NHS Trust.

Thank you for your feedback, I'm delighted to hear you had such a good experience during your attendance at our Recovery College and to hear that you really feel helped and supported by that Team. These are standards we strive for within the Trust and we were very pleased to hear you describe their work with you in such glowing terms.

It is really great to hear that the strategies you learnt there are serving you well and that you think so highly of our trainers. I will be sharing this feedback with the Recovery college Staff and hope this will encourage them to keep up the good work and that other teams can also learn from this example.

I thank you again for taking the time out to leave such a lovely comment.
