What I liked
I had to be admitted into hospital in the early hours of Thurday morning.
The ambulance arrived within minutes of being called, they promptly took me to the A & E department and delivered a high level of care. As I arrived, many of the staff (security and healthcare) were being subjected to the most horrific abuse from another member of the public. They handled it with astounding professionalism and I was quickly moved to another room away from the person in question. The nurses and doctors proceeded to treat me well, always with a smile on their faces, despite the threat of verbal and physical attacks that they were receiving every time they left the room that I was being treated in. I could not have asked for better treatment. I have had very little contact with the NHS in the past and found the treatment I received to be the polar opposite of the negative stories we have been led to believe in the press.
What could be improved
In terms of care and service for me, nothing could have been improved upon.
It is unfortunate that these hard-working and caring frontline staff have to be subjected to such abuse from the public, I hope long term that this situation may be improved upon, but I realise that this is a complicated social issue that cannot be fixed easily.
Anything else?
Thank you to all the team at Manchester Royal Infirmary Accident and Emergency for their excellent level of care.
"Amazing service delivered by an outstanding team..."
