My son, who was a young very fit man, developed acute Crohns. After suffering first from Ulcerative colitis, it turned into Crohns. Unfortunately just as we went into lockdown because of Covid19 his conditioned worsened and he needed a stoma, bypassing his big colon. Surgery went well but he came home after only two days, because of the danger of the virus. My daughter-in-law and I tried to give him the level of care required but because he was so nauseous and had deep painful hiccups for days on end it was very difficult. He was scared of eating. Last night he collapsed and we called an ambulance. They arrived in 15 minutes and showed such professionalism, care and compassion. Now he is getting his stoma unblocked and being hydrated. WE owe a great debt to the NHS and especially the ambulance crew and paramedics. Grateful.
