"Appreciation for the excellent care"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Combined Assessment Unit (CAU) Crosshouse Hospital / General Surgery

(as a relative),

A few words to show our appreciation for the excellent care and compassion shown towards our father during his recent stay at the combined assessment unit and ward 4a.

My father is terminally ill and due to serious, ongoing health issues recently had to be admitted for 17 days. We were firstly very grateful that the hospital allowed my brother and I to stay with him 24 hours a day which was a great comfort to both him and ourselves . Being such a close part of the daily hospital life just gave us an even greater understanding of how difficult a job it is and how much care and compassion each and every staff member showed towards our dad.

Previous to coming in my dad had been fiercely independent and quite ableboded despite his illness. I would particularly like to thank all the auxiliary staff who took responsibility for his 'personal care'. He was treated with the same compassion and attention as if he was a member of their family. They were able to reassure him and put him at ease in a very stressful environment. Never underestimate the importance of your work girls!

Ward 4a is led by the lovely ward manager Andrea who is highly praised by her staff. The nurses are a great team and there is good rapport amongst them. They were always great at handing over information on my dad from one shift to the next and arranging everything on discharge day. We would also thank  the doctors with a special mention to Dr Natasha who coordinated well with the team from the Beatson to seek the best plan of action for my father's care.

The hospital have challenging weeks ahead with the current Corona virus outbreak but you have a team to be proud of and everyone from the cleaners and maintenance man who promptly fixed my dad's emergency buzzer, auxiliaries, nurses, doctors and all the other amazing people behind the scenes I'm sure will pull together and do the same amazing job you did for our dad.
