"Broken femur"

About: Derriford Hospital / Accident and emergency Derriford Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My husband was admitted to Sharp ward 3 years ago after a terrible accident in his wheelchair ending in a broken femur. The ward is not only friendly and efficient, the consultants take time to explain and all the staff give superlative care helping you to feel you are in safe hands. We have had several emergencies over the last few years and admitted to various wards in Derriford. I can’t thank Sharp Ward enough for their outstanding care that is markedly different from the care he has received elsewhere in the hospital. Currently my mother is now in the ward for a similar emergency operation. My relief to find that the same care and respectful attention is being given to both patients and their relatives. Thank you Sharp ward you are a shining example that other wards would do well to follow.

Sue Timmins, Matron for Orthopaedics has responded to say:

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such wonderful comments. My team will be delighted to read this, as they always try their very best to care for patients like your husband to a very high standard.

Your feedback will be welcomed, especially at such a difficult time.

Thank you again and I hope your husband has now fully recovered and your mother is recovering well following her most recent admission.

Kind regards

Sue
