"Knee Replacement"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Trauma and orthopaedics GPs North Lincolnshire

(as the patient),

Attended my GP with pain in right knee and was sent for physio. After a few months it was decided that physio was doing nothing. I went for MRI on knee which showed problems, following which I was sent to Doncaster R I.

In May  2019 told I needed new knee, Operation on Knee in July2019, discharged four days later and informed I would get a letter setting out physio on knee.   Also told to contact my GP surgery to make an appointment to have staples removed from knee after 10 days, I was told by receptionist no chance first appointment to see nurse in 2 months! ! ! ! ,

I was told I would have to contact district nurse to arrange for this to be done which I did, no problem. I then received 2 letters for appointments one for the consultant and one for physio in September. Six weeks after coming out of hospital not the week after for physio like I was told.

I went back to DRI in Dec 2019 and was informed by the consultant, that he was not worried about the swelling but more concerned that I was in pain  and he admitted me in January 2020 and drained fluid from my knee, I then did not hear anything until anew appointment was made for me in March 2020 and I have now been told I will need to be admitted again for investigations, no date as yet.

In January of 2020 I went for my annual check up at my GP, after blood test told by GP not happy with liver function test, we both agreed this was because of the pain killers I am taking.

My areas of main complaint are GP and hospital not in contact so GP not sure how to treat and the main one the length of wait to start physio. all I get when I see anybody, GP or Consultant is you could be in pain and have swelling for up to a year after op, yet I have friends who had the same op after me and now do not have any problems, so as you may guess I am not very happy.
