What I liked
The volunteer phlebotomist has th ebest technique I have ever experienced. I hardly felt anything.
Staff were very helpful and friendly apart from th eperson I saw before the phlebotomist
What could be improved
I was dinghy sailing in a reservoirat the weekend and of course capsized and spent some time in the water. Today I am showing cold/flue symptoms.
Unfortunately my GP was fully booked today so I visited the A & E ant UCLH. They referred me to this hospital.
The person I saw was the most rude and ignorant person I have ever had the misfortune to meet in any hospital.
The form at the hospital asked if I had bee abroad recently and I mentioned a day trip to France.
The person I saw did not listen at all to my explanation that it had nothing to do with France and all I needed was blood test for Leptospirosis. They completely failed to make any connection between dinghy, reservoir, capsize, in stagnant water, leptospirosis, need check and possible treatment. They continually interrupted me and I was unable to complete more than half a sentence before an interruption saying "I am listining to you" They even used this line to interrupt me when I tried to tell them "No your not you're interrupting.
They did not give me any reason for taking numerous throat swabs and did not appear to have any idea of Leptosperosis which is not a rare disease in people playing watersports.
Due my frustration at their refusal to listen to me I did get rather cross and my voice was probably raised at times to try to get over her constant interruption.
I was feeling quite ill and just wanted to give the blood sample and go home to bed.
Some of your staff need retraining in active listenening and how to listen to patients and explain the situation to them.
I would really appreciate it if someone suitably qualified at the hospital will confirm to me that the samples will be tested for Leptosperosis and give me an idea of how long I may have to wait for the results.
I hope that I never have to visit this hospital again.
